Whistler is known for its world class skiing. The Mountain is open every day from 8.30am to 3.30pm now. From February 24, the mountain will stay open until 4pm. Sightseeing is daily from 10am until the mountain closes.
There was a slow start to the 2023/2024 winter season which were followed by some great snow days in January. Now that the rain is dominating the last week of January, we all wonder how the season will proceed. So let’s have a look at the snow statistics from the past and how this season’s snowfall compares to the average cumulative snowfall:
Winter Season 2023/2024 cumulative snowfall vs. 10 year average:
- November 2023 106 cm – November average is 180 cm
- December 2023 169 cm – December average is 208 cm
- January 2024 185 cm – January average is 235 cm
Compared to the Winter Season of 2022/2023, November and December snowfall was weaker but January slightly stronger. Previous seasons that have started with less snowfall in November and December were 2018/2019 but with a strong snowfall in January. 2014/2015 and 2004/2005 have been far below average cumulative snowfall seasons compared to the 10 year average snowfall.
Our current season at this point already is stronger than the Winter of 2014/2015 November – January. Other North American Ski Resorts were also experiencing less snowfall until the beginning of this season. Current base is at 133cm and according to the weather forecast the rain will come to a stop.

Events coming up this Winter
Fire & Ice Show –January 14 to March 10
This free, all-ages night of entertainment takes place every Sunday at the Skier’s Plaza at 7.30pm (depending on snow conditions). Whistler’s top skiers and riders flip and twist through a burning hoop. Dress warm and enjoy!
Whistler Ski & Snowboard Festival April 8 – 14 2024
The World Ski & Snowboard Festival combines spring energy with Whistler’s unique mountain culture for a week of ski and snowboard competitions, concerts and a mix of evening events and afterparties. Stay tuned on the event schedule, it will be posted here.
