This year it felt like summer went on until mid October with a sudden change to almost Winter in the first week of November. The mountain has now opened and Whistler Blackcomb is working hard to keep the slopes maintained. As many of you know, the Creekside Gondola and Big Red Express have not been finished for opening day and Vail has set up a shuttle Bus to get all ‘Creeksiders’ to the Village. They have their own lift line to upload with priority. The Vail hours of operation from November 24 to January 28 2022 are 8.15am to 3pm. From January 29^th the first upload will be at 8.30am and the lifts will close at 3.30pm. And after February 25 the mountain will stay open until 4pm. Guest Services are open everyday from 8am until 5pm to help you with your lift passes and any other inquiry that are related to Vail resorts.

The town of Whistler is now preparing for the Christmas Season. Christmas lights have been installed and it looks beautiful every year. If you are coming to Whistler for Christmas, make sure to book your events, restaurants, hotels etc. early.

With the late start to summer this year, we are still enjoying the warm weather and sun rays as fall is taking its time to arrive. Temperatures are still in the mid twenties during the day, but the mornings and evenings are crisp. Tourism levels were strong all summer, and this has continued into fall. People are still out biking and hiking, paddleboarding on our beautiful lakes and enjoying nature walks. The bike park and Whistler’s Golf Courses are now closed for the season. Events such as the Whistler Concert Series and Crankworx were all back this year and popular with tourists and locals alike. Whistler’s fall events are celebrating a come back this year as well as the food and drink festival – Cornucopia – returning this November.

After a an extended cool and wet spring, it looks like the long anticipated summer weather has arrived in the Sea to Sky Corridor. The Valley looks lush and the animals look healthy and well rested. Spring is a great time to be in Whistler and the Sea to Sky Corridor! The days are getting longer and warmer weather is melting the snow in the valley. We can now start enjoying activities such as biking and golfing while still able to ski and ride on the mountain well into May.  Whistler Mountain is scheduled to close winter operations on April 18, 2022 and Blackcomb will remain open until May 23, 2022.

As of March 5, 2022, the hours of operation have been extended so the lifts open at 8.30am and now close at 4pm daily.  From April 19 to May 23, the hours of operation will be from 10am till 4pm.

Creekside Gondola expansion
Whistler Blackcomb’s popular Creekside area is getting a lift upgrade for the 2022/2023 Winter Season. It is planned to replace the existing six person Gondola with a new highspeed, eight person Gondola. The new gondola is meant to improve wait times as well as increase capacity by 35 percent. The Big Red Express is going to be replaced with a six-person chair.

The Winter Season 2021/2022 has kicked off as of November 26 2021. Here are our updates and reminders from Whistler and some of the changes in Whistler’s Real Estate Markets.

The Vail Whistler Blackcomb Ski Resort has opened its doors for ALL, locals and visitors.

Whistler Real Estate today has very low inventory in all sectors of the market. There continues to be a strong demand from Buyers for Whistler and area properties. It is a great time to sell! With tourists visiting now from around the world, revenues on various types of property should remain positive.

After a very busy summer, Whistler is now slowing down as we head into fall. If you own a property in Whistler, this is the perfect time to get your home ready for the busy winter season:

1. Turn off any faucets outside. Water left in the pipes may freeze and cause damage.
2. Have your furnace professionally serviced to make sure it is running properly and will not cause any problems in Winter.
3. Get your fireplace and the chimney cleaned. This will help prevent carbon monoxide to built up and avoid damage by fires.
4. Make sure your windows and doors are properly sealed to keep the heat inside and the cold air outside.
5. Check the roof and clean the gutters. It is a good time to inspect your roof for any missing shingles or leaks. At the same time making sure the gutters are free of leaves and debris to ensure water drains properly
6. If you are planning to do nightly rentals, here are a few things to consider
   1. Check if you have a complete inventory of household items like linens, blankets and pillows, kitchenware, towels etc.
   2. Have a reliable cleaner available for quick turnovers
   3. Consider having a rental manager taking care of your bookings and guests
   4. Make sure appliances, light bulbs, electronics are in good working condition
   5. Make sure door codes, parking passes, keys are available
   6. If you have a hot tub, make sure it has been serviced and cleaned and it is working properly

Real estate markets in the first quarter of 2020 in Whistler and Pemberton followed trends experienced throughout southwestern BC with a strong and improving marketplace during January and February, followed by a significant slow down in March as result of a global and local shutdown of most parts of the economy and society due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The numbers for the quarter are as follows; in Whistler, 110 new firm transactions were reported as compared to 151 in the previous quarter and 131 for the same quarter in 2019. This is largely a result of a 50% drop in activity during the month of March as compared to the previous month or March 2019.
